Bannock would be eighth notes. Works for me.
Hmm... That could totally work. Good thinking!

I think that the decision of naming a town based on its potential for cheers is a great idea. +1!

Forest View. Blink and you miss it, combined with an easily forgettable name. But Park City, not to be confused with the Utah skiing cold spot, is another. As you drive into Waukegan you fly over it. I think it has a few bars, but otherwise no reason to visit.

Everyone has heard of Inverness because of the Hoopla when it was created.

Disagree. It’s only widely known if you are familiar with nw suburban cook/sw lake counties.

Inverness is located among the Barrington series; that's my term for a set of suburbs with "Barrington" in their name. (Round Lake and Palos come in a "series" too.) I must say: for a suburb few people know about, Inverness is huge. Almost as big as the widely known Palatine.

Now, what kind of hoopla took place when Inverness was founded? I looked it upon Wikipedia, and it was pretty mundane: a rich settler came, named an area after his hometown, and built some houses. No land disputes, scandals, etc. Its village hall is awesome, though.

Fox Lake is well known? I'd never heard of it before I looked at a Metra map. Although Al Capone did have a weekend getaway there; maybe that's why.

Anyway, I think the south suburbs in general are lesser known, maybe because the vast, post-industrial no man's land of the South Side separates them from everywhere else - Richton Park, Olympia Fields, Matteson, Dolton, etc. I never hear those places come up in conversation except on this site. I visited them once on a solo bike trip just because I knew almost nothing about the south 'burbs.

I see a few people mentioning Stone Park, but FWIW I don't think it's that obscure. I grew up mostly in Oak Park and went there a few times.
