Forest View. Blink and you miss it, combined with an easily forgettable name. But Park City, not to be confused with the Utah skiing cold spot, is another. As you drive into Waukegan you fly over it. I think it has a few bars, but otherwise no reason to visit.

Inverness is located among the Barrington series; that's my term for a set of suburbs with "Barrington" in their name. (Round Lake and Palos come in a "series" too.) I must say: for a suburb few people know about, Inverness is huge. Almost as big as the widely known Palatine.
Now, what kind of hoopla took place when Inverness was founded? I looked it upon Wikipedia, and it was pretty mundane: a rich settler came, named an area after his hometown, and built some houses. No land disputes, scandals, etc. Its village hall is awesome, though.

Fox Lake is well known? I'd never heard of it before I looked at a Metra map. Although Al Capone did have a weekend getaway there; maybe that's why.
