I couldn't take it, I can't stand alot of noise, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't O'hare incredibly busy? I would want to make sure. I personally would ask the neighbors, they can tell you that and alot more about the neighborhood.

I used to live in Hanover Park, directly over a flight path. Not directly by the airport, but there was probably a plane every 5 minutes. Not noticable indoors, but it was distracting to me anytime I spent outside. Enough to influence my decision to buy in an area.

Even moving 1/2 mile out of the path would have been enough to make it seem more like "background" noise, not as persistent and distracting.

I now live in La Grange, and if I pay attention, there's always planes in the air, but it's not in a flight path, and I never even notice them. So, there's a big difference between normal city noises and being in a flight path.

O'hare is the second busiest airport in the US right behind Atlanta.

I would say that being in a flight path can sometimes be annoying, but it is funny how you just don't hear the noise after awhile. When relatives come to visit, they are totally in awe of the planes and can't believe how many planes there are (on a busy Sunday afternoon every 45 seconds). They too, though, will say after a couple days, "Hey, did the planes stop?" I guess the noise is like a bad smell, your senses adjust and block out the annoyance.
