I've lived in Mundelein for almost 5 years now. Ever since I've moved here I've been hearing that Mundelein will be "re-doing" the downtown area as well as the Southside Corridor (Lake St./Allinson). That corner is a real eye sore..its just terrible. So I was wondering if any Mundelein residents knew when this revamp was supposed to begin...

It's already underway, but it is a long term project. If you visit the Village Hall, they have the plan posted so you can take a look at it.

I lived in Mundelein from 1979 to 2005 . Left mainly due to the silly property taxes i was paying for a 1800 sq. ft. home on a regular sized lot ($6100 in 2004) near Route 176 and Midlothian Rd. I moved to unincorporated Lake Villa got a half acre of land and almost cut the property taxes in half. I never found Mundelein very friendly , too much traffic , and not worth living there for the property taxes i was paying. I did like the Classic Car cruise nights downtown however. I can only imagine what the Buyers of my old house are paying since 2004...bet its over $7000.
