I'm looking for suburbs close to Naperville either on Ogden or Butterfield Rd which'd also be drivable distance to Chicago/ Norridge. My budget is 140k, anything affordable besides Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Lisle...? Hope this is not all too confusing. Looking for tips.

Naperville to Norridge is a rough commute. Is there a reason to be close to Naperville?

Under Illinois law, if the kids are not living in the district they cannot attend the Naperville schools. That generally means that if parents divorce and wish to have separate residences they should both be in the same district. School district administrators routinely review these requirements with legal counsel -- http://www.iaase.org/documents/ctrl_...0131031212.pdf

Well, the OP never said that they were divorced. It may be the case that the OPs kids are in private school and then it wouldn't matter anyway. But if the OP is the primary (or sole) then, yes they cannot move out of the district and still attend the Naperville public schools.

That link refers to special education students. But even so, this passage maintains that even with joint custody, the parent that has the kids primary abode is the one that needs to be in district. It may be the case that the OPs kids are in private school and then it wouldn't matter anyway. But if the OP is the primary (or sole) then, yes they cannot move out of the district and still attend the Naperville public schools. Not to mention, the OP has never mentioned that they are divorced anyway.

"In cases of divorced or separated parents, when only one parent has legal guardianship or custody, the district in which the parent having legal guardianship or custody resides is the resident district. When both parents retain legal guardianship or custody, the resident district is the district in which either parent who provides the student's primary regular fixed night-time abode resides; provided, that the election of resident district may be made only one time per school year"

OP....anywhere close to Naperville is going to be a tough commute to Norridge. But if you are wanting to do that and be near Butterfield or Ogden then your choices are limited. There is an area off Ogden in Naperville/Lisle called Beau Bien that may be in your price range. Are you looking for a SFH or condo/townhome?

Hi, I'm looking for a condo/ townhome around 180k, pref 2 bd, 2 ba. Just saw Briarcliff condos in Wheaton. Good but only 1 bath in that price range. We've joint but he has primary and I can be anywhere within 25 miles.

Wheaton has some condos in that price range. Its debatable whether its within driving distance to Norridge. That's a long hike. https://www.redfin.com/IL/Wheaton/14.../home/18126753

Hint: using regular roads, take Butterfield east to Mannheim Road. Go north on Mannheim to Irving Park Road and then east to Norridge.
