Or your bank account can take a beating by the state of Illinois.
Lol, NWI was a high initial contender for where we decided to live but it would have put us over an hour away from family and considering we previously lived 8 hours from family we decided the cost was worth the price.

Until your fiances are in utter shambles. Give it just a few more years and look out after JB Pritzker wins this November.

Caglee, do you know why your friend in Yorkville had such a drastic property tax increase?

In 2016, when they did their triannual reassessment, ours went up 42%. I have appealed it every possible time and gotten in down. But seriously?

Always appeal your taxes. The government's model is like Comcast keep jacking your up the price until you complain then back off a bit.

If I recall from an earlier thread, Glenview or Northbrook.

It was fairly common knowledge before it hit that a huge RE tax increase was in store in many parts of north suburban cook. Especially for homes over $1m. Many of my friends there were paying significantly less than us living just north, in Lake County. That gap has narrowed.

I don't understand why you IL homeowners become more vocal and aggressive in your tactics to lower the property taxes, such as mass protests in public? The more people you can levy in your fight against these ridiculous property taxes, the better!!

Take some lessons when CA passed Proposition 13 in 1978. They had skyrocketing property tax bills (a lot was due to home value appreciation--something Chicagoland is not experiencing.) Even so, they wacked-down property tax bills in a major way.

If State/local govt. realizes they may face a mass, angry public revolution and revolt on this issue, things WILL get done.
