Moving to the Chicago area for work, my wife and I are considering a house in this area. We will be visiting in a week, but I was wondering about the safety and walk-ability of the area, especially if my wife is alone.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

You should probably post this in the Chicago forum, not the suburbs. Bronzeville is a neighborhood, not a suburb. Some city people never read the suburban forum, so you'll probably get more responses there.

Area seems very safe. The area is nice to take walks but I wouldn't describe it as "walkable" meaning there's strips of bars/restaurants nearby which goes for most of Bronzeville. You'll want a car to drive around. I can't speak to the schools as I don't live there but I see a lot of people and activities going on in the parks nearby. I'm almost done with a full gut rehab on a 4 bed / 3.5 bath single family home a few blocks away and there is a ton of new houses / rehabs being built nearby. So I've been around days and nights for the last year and like the area and neighbors are very pleased with the development.
