Carpool for Winkelman Elementary (Northbrook/Glenview) (Campus: neighborhood, YMCA, elementary school)

I'm searching for other Winkelman Elementary school parents willing to join in a carpool share for student dropoff and pickup. I'm available to drive for a carpool every other week but am looking for other parents availabe for off weeks.

We're new to the area and are trying to navigate before and after school transportation and care. Please contact me if you have interest or can recommend other transportation or childcare alternatives.

Contact the school and they can get you specifics (pto, class lists, etc.).

Frankly though, many will likely be using the bus option in Glenview.

It looks like your park district offers a before/after school care program at Winkelman (Similar to what’s offered in some other districts). See the offerings here:

Contact the school for a new family info packet, possible referrals or other ideas for the pooling. Be sure check the bus routes, when posted -the school can advise, to determine if you're bus eligible. A great percent of students are, due the traffic and busy location Winkleman. Search around, as there any many before and after school programs available.

Thanks for all you yelp. But we had alread contacted the school, park district and the YMCA, but unfortunately only waiting lists remain. And the school advised that it is unusual for these spots to open. They recommended we look for a nanny. We're moving to Northbrook in early August leaving little time. Hence I've been posing on Craigslist and here hoping to find other parents in the area with a similar problem.



If this isn't the appropriate forum, which one would be more suited? The school year is starting in 5 weeks and I'm open to better directing my query.

It’s tough to find childcare past the deadlines. Been there, done that.

That said, if you and your spouse can’t stagger your work schedules, typically a babysitter or nanny is the only option. C-D is not the audience- you need to look locally once you have boots on the ground in NB. Your new neighbors with young kids and established connections can help too. Good luck.
