it is not an easy drive will always be an hour in traffic from schaumburg to evanston maybe more. You can live all the way east in schaumburg or elk grove village, arlington hieghts.

Terrible commute. Nowhere within Schaumburg will be significantly better than anywhere else.

In conclusion: Unless not possible, find a different plan.

My niece gave birth at Northshore University Hospital right by Northwestern University last year, and we went to visit her and the baby. We are in Schaumburg, right by 53 at the Higgins entrance (appx 2 miles)...so close to 90 as well. The drive sucked. No direct way there with the highway, and even if there was the traffic would be horrible during rush hours. Golf Road would probably be your best bet and would take you straight to Evanston. Even with no traffic at all taking Golf Road, it's probably 45 minutes. That would be later at night with no traffic. Now imagine adding in traffic, you're an hour easy. It would be so draining to drive that hour with a good portion of it in stop and go traffic.

Bitey above has the best advice.
