Is mold (black) in your apartment/house a common occurance out here, Bloomingdale suburb areas? I am not from around here (the midwest) so I am not too sure if it is common, or in fact a real problem. Any insight is much appreciated! THANKS

Nope, it's just your house.

Never seen it either. Sounds like you have some water issues. Contact your landlord if you have one.

I'm a home inspector in the general Bloomingdale area. It's never an area problem - its usually a homowner problem. Yes, people often unknowingly cause their own home problems. Cranking up the humidifier all the way, not replacing roof shingles when needed and lack of attic insulation/ventilation are just some of the reasons.
