Hello all,

We are moving from Minnesota to Chicago suburbs. We really liked the Elmhurst area, specifically the Lincoln school district. There's a few houses on Rex Blvd and Sunnyside Ave that we are interested in. Our realtor mentioned that there may be an odor from the water reclamation plant. On salt Creek although she has never personally experienced it. We went there on two occasions in the winter and didn't notice any odor.

Can anyone from that part of town comment on this? Is it a real problem?

Thanks in advance!

I've also smelled it driving by route 83. Smells like that get worse in the summer, so doing the sniff test now may not yield the same results as it would in August, but it would depend on how close the house is to the plant.

Depending on wind direction, yes you'll smell it. But, depending on the exact location, I would be more worried about potential flooding from Salt Creek.

How bad is the flooding situation in Elmhurst? The house would be on the third parallel row of houses from the creek.

For those who have smelled the odor from the plant? How bad is it? 83 is on the west side of the plant and the neighborhood would be on the east.
