Any suggestions where we could hang out for the night with our dog on the 4th? 2 of 3 of us freak out from fireworks, it's hell night. We're in the north suburbs, will drive up to 2 hrs to get the heck out of our neighborhood. TIA

I feel your pain. Every year I swear I am going to find the most remote cabin to get away from the fireworks. I search Airbnb, homeaway. Instead we end up with Thundershirts on the dogs and the TV or soft music playing while we try to comfort them.

Rent a house in the Galena Territory. One of the more remote ones if possible. I know a good agent if you want -just reply and I'll give you his name.

He rents the nicest houses but it may be a 2 night minimum - then you get the 3rd night free.
Its beautiful there.

Yes, equipped with a thundershirt! A remote rental would be great, I appreciate the offer. A few nights probably not work but good idea to search for some remote rentals for possibly just the night.

Our town has confirmed they're still going to blow things up and make it sound like war for the 4th, because, it just wouldn't be the 4th without it. :/
