So we currently live in Dupage, and my kids are out of school now, they are both in college. I want to live in more of a country setting area. I want somewhere that the houses are not to close together, yet I can still get to the store and won't have to drive an hour to get there. My husband works in Melrose Park, but most likely will be transferring to Downers Grove soon. I am looking to rent a house first then in a year or two to buy one. These are towns I have looked at, and kind of like but am just not sure. I have looked at Antioch, Oswego, Downers Grove, Morris, Minooka. Honestly, my husband was driving over an hour to work for 28 years, so he doesn't mind the commute, but I think Morris and Minooka are just too far. What are some good towns that maybe I don't know about, towns with lower crime and just decent people? We are quiet people that just like to do our own thing in our own place. The trains and the nose here is getting to much for me. Thank you. I forgot to say, we are looking to find something where the rent of a house is under 1600 for a three bedroom.

Kane County. St Charles/Batavia area. i was talking to a person there describing life there and she says they haven't had any of the rioters or protestors there, life is just the opposite of all that.

I also like the Chain of Lakes area, like up in Volo, Graylake, Fox Lake, Lake Villa. Very pretty area.

I've taken trips out west down Route 64 (North Ave) all the way toward the iowa boarder to Savannah, now THAT is a very small town. the best memory was at the local restaurant, everyone sat together on these long tables, communal seating sorta. no one felt weird sitting by strangers. so that's a good area.

I'd check out the area by the Illinois River too.. I heard great things about that area.

Maybe Galena up north.

I'd check out Sugar Grove or Elburn. Definitely on the outer western edge of the area and very quiet/country. Both are out in the cornfields. Elburn has Metra to the city if you ever plan on going there for something. Both are also fairly close to I-88 which goes towards Downers Grove.

Batavia/St Charles/Geneva are all very nice too, but are pricier and a bit of a further drive to get to DG.

Depending on where in Batavia it could be easier to get to DG than from SG or Elburn. Living in the southeast corner of Batavia puts you very close to 88. Concur though, that the Tri-Cities do command a higher price point than Elburn/SG.

Thank you all, Yes, we are seeing more and more things coming in from the city where I am at right by the train tracks. From gangs, to some looters. I am just trying to find a peace and quiet kind of place. I grew up partially in WV, and partially in Chicago, and I honestly don't want anything to do with the whole Chicago area. My husband worked in the city for 28 years, and they tried to attack his place of business, the only thing that stopped them were that he was armed. I am hopeful not to have to worry about that anymore, he finally found a job out of the city, and we just want a quiet place. Thank you all so much I will look into all the towns everyone suggested, some I have not heard of. We will then go out and look at the area, see the stores , restaurants things like that, libaray is huge for me, so we will do are own research. Thanks again.

Have you considered leaving Chicagoland? There are 49 other states!

I was going to suggest the same thing, that sounds similar to my check list and I'd love to leave the state for a place not run by idiot leftists who tax people out of their homes, pass stupid and oppressive legislation, and let savages ravage the cities.
