I said compared to other suburbs and west Evanston is bad even the part of Evanston next to Chicago but on the lake is good and there are a lot of other suburbs besides oak park and Evanston. The bad part of oak park is south of Eisenhower and west of ridge land but all of oak park south of Eisenhower is not as nice as further north.

Huriko, Oak park has been gentrifiying overtime?
There are a lot of houses in oak park below 300,000 and in the 200,000s and 100,000s I have been to oak park a million times.

Oak park has a crime rate 90 percent higher than the states cities and towns of all sizes and Evanston is 83 percent.

Lincolnwood is way safer than Evanston.

Hiruko, thank you for clearing that up for me. Much appreciated!

I guess I was thinking of the area that separates Evanston from the tip of the Red Line.

But again, thank you for sharing!

Happy New Year!!

Chicagpisthe best, good to see you mentioning Lincolnwood. I am a fan.

Incidentally, the area called The Towers, I found out has a beautiful display of Christmas lights, a "Candy Cane Lane."

Master jay, All of Evanston south of main st is safe (There are still some sketchy blocks of 70s style apartment buildings) the only rough part of Evanston is the area around eths.

Chicagoisthebest, I took Western Avenue form Lincoln Square through Evanston until I hit Green Bay Road.

I saw a lot of nice big houses there.

In the past I had gone to their American Indian Museum, as well as their Festival of Cultures.

It's a nice place. Like I said, just not my usual hang out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Oak park has very very high taxes. I think that makes it unappealing on the low end. There have always been a range of homes there.

High taxes is the whole point to a safe neighborhood.
