Hello, I'm almost in mid-30's and I'm looking to relocate to a suburb outside of the city. I'm currently living with my folks in the countryside ATM and I wish to move sometime this year. Even though I would like to be closer to the city, my biggest concern is safety and I don't want to worry about the current uptick in crime that has been occurring ever since the virus hit.

Can't wait to see what people say here. If you are concerned about crime, I would rethink a move here as the just passed no cash bail and other tie the hands of the police goodies in a 700+ bill that was allowed to be viewed for one hour before they passed it.

Default I would suggest Evanston or Oak Park but...

don't give up on the city.

I live within walking distance of Lincoln Park with its 18 mile long running trail, much of it along the lakefront. We've been running there almost daily for decades and have never had a problem or even heard of a problem.

Also, you can walk from our neighborhood to Wrigley Field and the 151 bus on Sheridan takes you right down town or you can take the Sheridan el.
Its a very lively area, nice mix of old and young, mainly the latter
I have recommended my area to even my young relatives.
Its called "Buena Park" - roughly between Irving Park and Montrose, Marine Drive to Clark St.
