My wife and I are looking at homes in Glen Ellyn, just south of 38. That would require us to drive to metra. How in the world does one park to commute on metra if you do not have parking pass and are on the 3-7 year waitlist?

Thanks!

You get a ride or use nearby day parking?

Thanks. I know there is daily parking that is nearby the metra? Do you have any insight into how quickly the lot fills up and how early one needs to be there to get a spot?

I don't. However, I will say that there are other communities in the area without waiting lists for Metra parking if that is a primary concern.

My understanding is there are a couple Pace buses that travel up Park or Main Street that stop at the Metra Station. I don't know the routes or times off hand, but I did look into Glen Ellyn when I did a home search a few years ago and noticed that. I would use a combination of Google Maps, the Pace website and the Metra schedule to figure that out. I don't know if Metra's or Pace's current schedules are wildly different from it's normal express service at the moment due to COVID.

As another poster pointed out, there is daily fee parking.

You might have to go to the next stop i.e. Villa Park always has parking. I used it when i lived out that way a few years ago.

I cant believe Glen Ellyn has a waitlist like that. Is that really true??? I know Naperville has that.. but Glen Ellyn???

According to their village website, it's accurate.

Just received my permit after 4 year wait. New garage will be open soon, hopefully it helps. Daily lot never fills up, but it is quite far.
