We are buying a house in the next week in Chicagoland. We eliminated Naperville because of the longer train drive and drive to Ohare. Also, the long wait on parking passes and the daily commuter lot filling up by 7am (roughly) is unacceptable.

My wife and I (also have a 1 year old son) have decided to go with Glen Ellyn or Elmhurst based on the shorter train ride, ease of getting a parking pass, and daily lot being available up until 8am (roughly).

We can't decide which community we like better. Any thoughts?

Both towns are equally nice, but Id have to give the nod to Glen Ellyn, just by a tiny bit. There is a strong sense of community in Glen Ellyn that I feel might help you decide. Your best bet is to visit both towns and see for yourself. Elmhurst has some lovely areas as well, but on a whole I just think that Glen Ellyn is nicer. Its really a tough call thats best left up to you to decide. Good luck in your decision!

They are very similar.I grew up in Elmhurst around the college.Great downtown,as is Glen Ellyn. The lake in GE is nice for strolls, but they are both very similar towns.Look at both and maybe a house you love will decide for you
