I wouldn't say it is harder; it maybe harder. If the trains are on the same platform you won't have to do a thing but get off one train and get on the other. You might be able to call metra to find out. If you can use Clybourn it will save you about 15 mins. See the link to see a pic of Clybourn. I have not yet found a picture of Ogilvie. If I find it I'll post it for you.

Metra / Clybourn Station Information

Do you see the two yellow lines in the pic (one in the far right side about halfway down and the other clearly visible). You may have to go downstairs to reach the other side...you cannot just walk across the tracks (that is strictly prohibited).

If it matters, I do not believe Clybourn is wheelchair accessible.

You may also want to check with Metra to find out if you will need 2 monthly tickets for your ride. One for Arlington Park and the other for Evanston. I believe if you regularly take a 2-leg trip that you must purchase both tickets. Once in awhile they don't really care. It's still probably cheaper than driving and you will probably find when you start doing it that your co-workers are doing the same thing.

1. How do I buy tickets for this travel? For example, in CTA, one ticket is enough for the entire travel. If that is not the case, then what is the cheapest option available for me if I'm traveling daily in the same route back and forth?

2. When my route map says transfer train, how far is the other train? That is, I want to transfer from Union Pacific Northline to Union pacific Northwest Line.

3. I see that I can transfer to/from Union Pacific North line from/to Union Pacific Northwest Line either at Clybourn or Ogilvie. Which one is better?

4. Is there anyway I could catch the Union Pacific Northwest line using CTA trains?

Hope someone can help me out. Thanks.
I don't know why you'd want to go all the way into Ogilvie. The tracks are right next to each other at the Clybourn stop. If the schedules line up, there's no need to head into Ogilvie, especially given the fact you only have two minutes to transfer.

You can use a monthly Metra on ANY line. I have done this routinely for decades. Not a whole lot of people need to do this, but for those who have a need this is a godsend.

Actually thanks to everyone who helped me out here... I tried out the Pace 250 method and it works perfect. No overlap of timings and there's at least a 10 minute gap at each transfer. I am transfering 4 vehicles but its not at all stressful. Taking a purple line to Davis and then transfering to Pace 250 and getting down at Des Plaines Metra and then taking that to goto Arlington Park and taking a company shuttle from there. Tried it for 2 days and works perfect for me. I will try out the two trains approach next week if possible and will come back with an update. Again, thank you so much for the suggestions.

When I lived there we had the option of adding a Pace pass to our train tickets. Get a ticket by mail (do they still do that?) brochure from Metra and it should be on there.

Yeah... Will see how much that would cost... As of now I'm buying a 10-ride pass which is costing me $20 (comes for 5 days)... Will explore more options...

Geez -- 2-3 hours EACH way on TOP of an 8 hour workday?? How many hours are actually awake in your home every week? I think I would have to switch jobs / move...
