They are expanding ohare on one side. I was told the town of bensenville tried for years to fight the mayor and in the end the mayor won. Like i said i work in frankin park , i eat lunch at least once or twice a week in bensenville.

When we looked at the house im interested in, we went at night. I wanted to see if there was something going on at night, that i couldn't see in the daylight hours. All i saw was a bunch of kids playing basketball at the park.

I live in elmwood park, 10 years ago was beautiful , now its very over crowded and there has been alot of robberies lately.

The wild card for almost anything close to O'Hare is what will happen when the new runways are operating in terms of noise.

My gut tells me that some areas are going to go from so-so to much worse noise pollution. The cycle of the suburbs complaining and the City of Chicago grudgingly agreeing to soundproofing probably will take 10 years or more...

Bensenville is going through a lot of changes right now and some are not so good. I live near Bensenville and there are some beautiful areas near White Pines and in Oakdale Woods. If the house is south of Belmont, you are in the Elmhurst 205 district which is more stable financially than Bensenville's District. As for gangs, I have heard they are everywhere, but I don't hear of many problems. You will see groups in the parks that dress like gangbangers and there has been some recent tagging that residents are concerned with, but no real issues like murder or open drug dealing seem to be a problem. I would try to check with the police department and see what arrests have been made recently. Overall, since the expansion has made families leave, I would have to say there is a risk and you need to be careful about an investment there right now.

I think with all areas there are the good and the bad. When i moved to elmwood park 10 years ago its was such a nice place to live. It was a very safe and friendly community. NOw is very over crowded, sometimes the park is so bad i just dont take my kids.

There has been alot of tagging and robberies the last two years. Then we have alot of the so called gangbangers hanging out on the street. I dont know if there jumping on the train from chicago or if they live here.

Im not moving because of them, i want to purchase a house, so my kids can play in the back yard.

I called bensenville village and spoke to the zoning department, he said there done taking house for ohare. If five years from now they do it again, then i will just have to move. i guess

Bensenville is not as bad as people make it out to be. It's also not as loud as you would think with the planes. The other suburbs surrounding the airport are much worse. You do get used to the occasional plane that goes by though, you don't even hear it. I would stick with the Johnson school area. Stay away from Mohawk, Tioga and Chippewa. There's no real gangs here. It's all people who pretend they are bad-ass but really aren't. Fenton is fine, not the best but certainly not the worst. There are kids who go Ivy League from there. O'Hare expansion is not going to happen anytime soon, so do not worry about that. There are plenty of good areas in Bensenville.

Bensenville is going to dissapear. If you want the City of Chicago to take your home move there, everyone is trying to get out. You should look at Park Ridge, Schaumburg, etc.

Some of the posts are OK and somewhat believable, BUT OTHERS...

I mean FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, do have ANY IDEA what a map of Bensenville looks like?

http://www.bensenville.il.us/DocumentView.asp?DID=121

The airport only touches a wee little bit of Bensenville that is residential AT ALL -- mostly it is industrial commercial lots that ARE not going to be acquired and even the residential that is being bought up is for BUFFER ZONE so they don't have some poor SOBs living right under the noisest part of the take-off/landing zone. The City of Chicago is not going to extend runways to Rt. 83!

Pull your head out of your *****! There is no stampede to "get out" of Bensenville. About a third of DuPage County workers LIVE THERE including State's Attorney Birkett. There are many HUGE homes that are well built and would sell for 3X ++ in basically any other 'burb, and all areas have active new home construction being done by people who intend to live a LONG TIME.
