They're not just towns close to Chicago (or in a couple cases bordering Chicago), but they are within Chicago's immediate sphere of economic influence. That's what makes them Chicago suburbs, regardless of state boundaries.

I understand that. There is something about calling Gary(Hammond too) a suburb that doesn't sit well. Gary was economically(was it really?) independent in it golden years and even have its own airport.

It was. But it is no longer. It is now a suburb of Chicago, for better or worse.

Bloom Township?? You're confused and misinformed my friend..

I agree with you that Ford Heights is the worst though. And Bloom Trail High School isn't so great but it's way better than a large swath of CPS..

Wheeling has it's own airport.

Well I guess there's a consensus on what suburbs are worst. No need to go on and on about it. Most here have mentioned where they do not want to live...and usually 9/10 of other posters agree.

Well, since I am not going to argue with someone over the internet () I will let you keep thinking the way you do, nothing I can really do to change it here on C-D. Have a happy life, and I hope you find much success.
