Looking for waterparks/pools associated with a city/park district (not like the ones attached to Great America or Rockford's Magic Waters) in the Chicago area. Anything in the suburbs as far west as about Naperville or as far north as the Illinois state line will work. Also, obviously one that allows non-residents.

It doesn't have to be huge facility, but I'm aiming for fun, twirly or steep slides or other unique features to entertain energetic and dare-devilish boys in the 8-10 year old range.

I thought Highland Park had one? Right off of Central by 41? I also know Skokie has one on Oakton. I think Park ridge has a wave pool at their public pool.

They do, but my boys go there regularly for camp. They have a week off in between camps next week and we're looking to go somewhere other than HP. I'll check out the others you suggested. Thanks!

don't know where you are coming from, but the Fox Valley park district in aurora operates two outdoor facilities, one on the east side..the phillips park aquatic center. and on the west side, splash country. both have rates for residents and non-residents. my son has been to the splash country facility with friends. it is a small waterpark facility. has some slides and lazy river. I don't know the rates. They also have an indoor pool with some water slides at the Vaughn Center.
If you are willing to venture a little further west, a new water park just opened in Yorkville. It is called Raging Waves(they do have their own website) it is a real water park with larger slides etc. i believe the fees are in the $25 to 30 dollar range. they just opened on june 28th. my son went last week(he had a free admission ticket from school) not all rides were open, but he said it was really fun. he is 13. It is located on route 47 in yorkville, just south of sugar grove. you can take the I88 tollway west!

Wheaton has a nice one, over near Danada Square somewhere. Ive never been to it, but see the signs for it over there. West Chicago has a decent one at Reed Keppler Park, and St. Charles (bit more west of Naperville) has one at the Norris Center and one off of Peck Road at Campton Hills Park.

Wilmette's pool has slides and a diving pool. I'd call to check on hours - the website says 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., but someone told me that they sometimes close from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Admission is $13 for non-residents.
