I was speaking to a friend of mine the other about Govenors State University and was told that the village of University Park was considering putting up dorms around the University. Does anybody know if this is true or have any info on it?

Thanks....

Seems to me that I have seen stories off and on about the the various state boards that control such things (and idiot boy Milorad Blagojevich desperately promising anything to anyone) floating such ideas. Don't think there is any real effort to switch it from what it is to a school that would have housing.

Not sure how that would work with no freshmen/sophomores and I think there is resistance from other state and private colleges to alter that. UG Admission Requirements from Catalog (http://www.govst.edu/catalog/ug_adm_requirements_cat.htm - broken link)
The school fills a unique niche for folks that want an affordable way to build on associates degree and/or earn an advanced degree. If it tried to cut into the 4-year school's "turf" it would be a messy loss...

I would highly doubt it, simply because the state is broke. Any kind of capital project simply isn't going to happen. Plus, as mentioned, the school only accepts transfer students. Not too many 30 or 40 year olds going back to school are going to want to abandon their families to move into a dorm on campus.

That's what I thought also. It really didn't make any sense.

Thanks for the input....
