Ok, can someone help me please I'm originally from Chicago join the Marines when I was 17yrs old back in 1984, retired from the Marines in 2004 own real estate in Southern California went back to school for Computer Networker/A+ Microsoft repair. I really miss Ill., and want to move back. The dilemma, I'm half Irish half Black and growing up in Chicago I was not the flavor of the month so to speak, what parts of the Burbs or Chicago are diverse. There are parts of Southern California where they don't care what color you are as long as you bring the green. And of course they’re the parts of the city, which prefer certain ethnicity to another. I hope I’m not making a foolish request by asking this.
I was looking at Evanston this summer.

This isn't quite what you were expecting to hear, but try Champaign-Urbana.
Wolfram Research is hiring in your field.

Default Thanks but NO Thanks

Auuugggghhh, I hate math thanks but no thanks, besides I’m a networker/repair I do routers/CPU,s design network routes etc. Programmers love math binary number and the likes. I know it's easy to confuse us geeks.

Have you looked at Northwestern University's job website? They may be looking for computer networkers and they're located in Evanston. Or the community colleges around Chicago?

I loved Evanston when I lived there. You'll not have to worry about not being the flavor of the month. Lot's of flavor in Evanston! Northwestern is a great place too.
