Vernon Hills is a nice town with a quality school system but I wouldn't call it "beautiful" - it's still primarily strip malls and tract housing.

If a billionaire lives in Vernon Hills than I have to say thats its an ok suburb to live in. Especially since he or she is a BILLIONAIRE. Plus, I have seen enough of Vernon Hills to say that its pretty pretty.

I've thought about it and decided that I really like Winnetka. The homes are older and the lots have a lot of trees which I enjoy and the lots aren't that big even for the mansions. That makes the town for me.

What billionaire lives in VH? I'm not knocking VH, but that's a strange criteria for "prettiest".

If you're thinking of Michael Krasny he lives in HP, his company is in VH.

Lots of billionaires choose to live in unremarkable suburbs/poorly-built houses, poss located on dubious pieces of land....

Would observe that many billionaires may choose to live in the "predictable" parts of their urban region....e.g., GoldCoast/LincPk/Winnetka/LF, but often their houses/apts. are not very remarkable....sometimes, their homes are downright laughable, esp when considering their net worth vs their choice of primary residence...

Money doesn't buy taste....

I agree with you 1100% Warren Buffet never moved out of his dinky starter house. Thats great for him, but not my choice.

Sometimes the reason superwealthy people choose to live in unremarkable houses is that they want to stay out of sight.

I'm still curious who this alledged billionaire is that lives in VH. All of Illinois' billionaires are on the list I posted.

VH is a true odd-ball locale for anyone wealthy....

But would caution that the Forbes 400 list is awfully erroneous and offers laughable pseudo-precision (most guys who are mere centimillionaires would struggle to precisely estimate their own net worth, which can significantly fluctuate daily)....many on Forbes 400 are unlikely to even be billionaires....and know of many guys who would rank rather highly on the list who've never been on it....and others on list whose net worth likely vastly exceeds the estimates....
