I vote for Dominicks with a close second being Woodmans.

Moved to NW suburbs from Milwaukee this year. Dominicks and Jewel are very expensive and yet seem to get good crowds. What gives??

Super Wal-Mart, Super Target or Meijer are our 3 personal faves, with Dominicks and Jewel next.

Meijer is the BEST. I went to college in western MI, where Meijer started, and love that they are expanding into Chicago.

I do the majority of shopping at jewel and aldi. by going to both, i think i save quite a bit of money. every now and then, I will shop at the walmart supercenter(only have gone twice) and sometimes at the meijer in st. charles. I am not a big proponent of driving too much out of my way to shop. by using my jewel card, and buying the items on sale, it really works out ok.

I shop Jewel and Ultra because they are both very close to my house and the prices are decent. I love some of the items at Trader Joes and will occassionally shop there for special items. I also do a Costco run every month.

Talking Orland Hills/Park Super Wal Mart to open soon

Orland Park/Hills will soon be getting it's own Super Wal Mart. The 196,000 square foot store is set to open in March of '09. I can't wait! With everything going up other than my salary, I need to find the cheapest place to shop, and Super Wally World fits the bill. They can't build the thing fast enough in my eyes. Bring it on!

Super Wal-Mart is always "rolling back" the prices for sure----but why do I always find it to be such a miserable shopping experience? I know they are mostly in Wisconsin except North Aurora and Carpentersville----- but Woodmans is a neat place to shop and just as cheap as Wal-mart on groceries. Any one seen the "hokie" (sp?) Woodmans commercial featuring the owner Phil Woodman?

I guess my "home store" is Dominicks, I like their produce and service best.

But my habits have changed a lot since food prices have being climbing - my shopping is now very distributed between Jewel (some great loss-leading sales), Food 4 Less (all-around best deal, and decent produce), organic delivery (tcforganics.net - cheap!)
and Walgreens for great sales.
