My friend is out there and she's wicked lonely so I told her I'd try to go visit her around Thanksgiving time... My dad was in the navy and stationed out there and he says it's a pretty dangerous area, I guess there were a few riots when he was there. I want to stay some place close to the base because I don't know if I can even rent a car (I'm 18) this seems like a terrible idea but I really want to go... Any suggestions for a cheep but safe area to stay in?

There used to be a program that allowed navy people to join local families for thanksgiving, butheard they cut that out for some unknown reason.

Lots of messages on that subject, enter a search for it. I agree with the Holiday Inn or Days in at Milwaukee/137 in Libertyville. very close to Great Lakes and very safe....
