I am a 47 yo woman living in Chicago on the north side and am feeling the need to move out of the city into a nice house for more space and natural beauty. I have no kids and my boyfriend will probably be moving with me.

I love mature trees and a New England feel. I am a progressive thinker and don't want to live in a 'ghetto' of any kind.

I fit the profile of an Evanstonite but Evanston does not feel like the right place. And Oak Park is too far from the NW suburbs where I need to regularly travel to.

I checked out Glenview, because the location is prime--but I prefer Wilmette. I probably can go up to 700k and would prefer to stay under 800k.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks very much!

Try Prospect Heights. Country feel, no sidewalks and many 1/2 acre+ lots. Arlington Heights has some nice neighborhoods too. Personally, I would look to spend less than $550, save the rest for personalizing your new house and for retirement!
If you want to go to $700K, include Northfield and Deerfield.
