I'm looking to purchase a townhouse close by Route 34/ N. Aurora in Naperville, IL. The train track is basically a block/across the street from the townhouse. My main concern is the noise during the night and the rattling inside the house when the train passes by. Does anyone know how the train noise is in the area? And if you have any information or idea about the area, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I lived right next to the tracks in some luxury apartments and it was fine. Most places near the tracks, especially luxury condos, etc, have sound proofing measures to help lower the sound. Our place had special windows that eliminated sound, and they worked incredibly well.

I would tend to agree with Steve-o. If you're looking at the newer ones that are on the cul-de-sac off River. Those are pretty soundproof when the windows are closed of course.

If you'd like to know for sure...check the train schedule and then schedule a showing just prior to when the train is expected to come by. Then you'll know for sure.
