Hi there, just curious to what would be considered a good wage if living in Naperville. Hubby, me and 3 children. A good wage as in, not looking to be extremely wealthy but enough to have a comfortable life.

We need more info. Where do you live now? How much do you earn there?

The annual median per capita income in Naperville is $41k. The annual median household income is $99k. Is the median income good enough? All depends on your lifestyle, although if I were you with a 5 member household, I'd aim for not less than $41K X 5 = $205K to feel comfortable. I'm not saying you can't live on less, but the more kids one has, the more costly living tends to be.

They'd be living large on $205K. I have 3 kids and live very comfortably on much less than that. Anything over $100K should be sufficient.

Costs DO vary within Ireland. Yes, I missed her location, but my point was, there's a lot to know before we could give a valuable answer. What's their current standard of living, what are necessities to them, etc.

Thanks for the replies. We are hoping to relocate to Naperville from Ireland. The salary my husband would be on now is ok, we get by. Just hoping that if he was to take a job over there then we would be looking for more money preferably. It's a big move to make and don't want to be short on cash over there. $205k not a hope of achieving that I reckon, it would be more around the $100k mark. Ireland isn't doing too good at the moment, major recession going on, one of the most expensive countries in Europe now

PS: Don't smoke, drink and most of our money would go on mortgage, bills, kids, groceries etc... day to day living. Would look to rent first then buy down the line.

$160k should be enough I think.

Just curious, if we were to pick another suburb to live in seeing as Naperville seems to be quite expensive would it be any cheaper? Say, Lisle or Wheaton?? Still talking $100k.
Thanks so much
