Hello everyone,

We just moved to Chicago 4 months ago and are planning on buying a home in Aurora, close to Rt59 and 75th. From what we know so far, I felt it is pretty decent with exception to the traffic. Please share your thoughts on this area as we need to close in on a home in a week's time. I have read all the threads in this forum regarding safety in Aurora and wish to assume that the areas close to foxvalley are safe. Let me know if I am being misguided.

All your thoughts and inputs would help us make a good decision. Please help.

Thanks a ton!

Not to get "too personal" but what is your target price range, that might make a difference of what areas you focus on! Do you have children? Are schools important?

As others mentioned, traffic in the area can be horrid, but other than that its not bad at all down there, that is one part of Aurora I wouldnt mind living in.

Thank you for responding to my queries. My budget is between 250K and 275K. I am looking for 204 schools. My research shows that Naperville address with 204 schools are expensive. I was looking at homes around route 59 and 83rd street which fall under Aurora but have 204 schools and have homes within my budget.

Do you think this is a safe area for kids and family alike? I drove around the neighborhood and the area did look very nice. I know that I am close to any shopping I can think of but just wanted to ensure the safety is fine as well.

You are correct, a Naperville address will cost more than an Aurora address. Naperville feeds into district 203 and 204. The areas of Naperville/Aurora that feed into 204 will be more affordable. Most of the areas right around Rt. 59 are safe. There are pockets here and there that are less desirable but overall you are ok.

I have a couple friends that live in that area that got new or newer houses for a song. They are safe neighborhoods, but be prepared to drive pretty far to anywhere you want to go, and as mentioned you will have to deal with the almost non-stop heavy traffic on 59 and surrounding roads.
