Hello, folks,

How long do you think it would take to drive from Chicago (Belmont and Milwaukee Chicago, IL 60618) to Naperville (40 Shuman Blvd Naperville, IL 60563)? I ask because I live in Chicago and I'm thinking about taking a job in Naperville. I'm pretty sure I'd have to drive since it seems that taking public transportation wouldn't be practical.

I would appreciate any estimates ...Google quoted me 1 hour and ten minutes in traffic.

I'd guess its about 1.25 to 1.5 hours outbound and more like 2 hrs inbound.

I would agree with the previous post. That would not be a drive I'd like to make!

Even though it's considered a reverse commute, it can be a long one.

It's not as bad as all that. Shuman is the very North side of town immediately south of I-88 and just west of Washington, which is now going to be the 1st exit into Naperville. You are NOT having to endure the "Naperville" traffic, just the I-88 traffic and reverse commuting wouldn't be quite so bad. I couldn't comment on how the traffic would be getting out of the city, but honestly, I'd drive it once or twice. I think you'll find that it's not as bad a people make it out to be.

This I can tell you, once you exit from I-88 you'll be at your destination in about 5-7 minutes.

It can be very bad like 1.5 to 2 hours in either direction depending on various factors. I would not expect to make it in either direction in less than a hour under even the most ideal conditions.

I agree. We make this trip a lot and I would average 1-1.5 hours, and it has taken me well over 2 hours in bad traffic. (add snow, and forget it!!!). I wouldn't do it, unless public transportation was an option!

I've driven from Oak Park (Harlem and Ike) past Naperville on I-88 many times. I know from personal experience it takes about 40 minutes. Add in the time to get to Harlem and Ike from Belmont and Chicago (on surface streets with traffic lights) and that's where I get my estimate.

Driving back into the city will always be worse due to the bottleneck on the inbound Ike between I-88 and Oak Park.
