Hello
I just started a new job in Oak Park, IL. and am wondering if it is possible to take the train from Calumet City, IL. to Oak Park, IL. I am currently driving there everyday but am intrested in finding a better way to commute. Can someone give me some advice on what train I can take? I know that I will most likely have to take more than one train and I am okay with that.

Thank You!

Do a search on http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/.

I have no idea what part of Oak Park or Calumet City you are travelling to or from.
Your best bet is to look on there and figure it out.

Seems like a rather un-fun commute no matter the method.

The closest Metra lines to Calumet city (Metra Electric and South Shore) terminate at Randolph Station in the east loop (probably 45 minutes to 1 hr). You could then transfer to the Green Line to Oak Park (about 20-30 minutes). If you work at either Oak Park Hospital or West Suburban Hospital, you can walk from the Green Line. Sounds like at least an hour and a half commute, not including driving from your house to the Metra station.

I live in Calumet City. From my home to the Metra Station at 115th Street, it's an 8-15 minute car ride, depending on traffic. The train ride is 23 minutes to the Randolph Street Station.

Lateral inter-suburban commutes are always difficult via train, since all train lines fan out from downtown. It would be nice to have some sort of super loop connecting suburban transit nodes via Metra. I know this has been proposed in the city as a CTA "Super Loop", but we would have multiple loops in a perfect transit world.

As others have said, unfortunately, this does not sound like a fun commute, driving or public transportation.
