Since Google Maps is a bit misleading when it comes to drive/train times I was wondering anyone could assist me in listing the closest suburbs to Glenview (near golf st) that would be a reasonable (less than 30 minutes during rush hour) commute.

Thanks!

Ok, only half joking. You can pretty much put anything east of 53, south of Half Day Rd, north of O'Hare and 'dry' (west of the the Lake ) is in the 30 minute range. LOTS of options. Personally if you can afford an areas in New Trier that would be a nice commute -- a bit "reverse commute", but not really empty, and depending of actual surface streets and such 30 minutes would be a stretch when weather is bad...

Arlington Heights is pretty big area -- basically you'd need to be sure that you are close enough to a decent travel corridor, but yeah 30 mins is probably doable. Lately there have been some bad travel times on surface streets due to winter storms at rush hour, only way to avoid that is to be like walking distance to work and have snow shoes!

mjpohl - here in Chicago we deal with weather and congestion, Arlington Heights would be a difficult commute in 30 minutes (rush hour). Your main roads would be clogged with traffic going in the same direction. Sorry.
