Does anyone know of any Interior Design positions available in or around Naperville? My gf has her bachelors in Interior Design and is looking to get her foot in the door somewhere. We are relocating to the Naperville/Aurora area because of my job. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of the so called interior design positions in the suburbs are in high end furniture stores, helping customers buy furniture to fit into their homes. They are basically sales positions. In Wheaton there is Toms-Price furniture that is a high end store. Other stores that employ positions like this are Ethan Allen and Walter Smythe in Oakbrook.

I believe most of the interior design positions are probably in Chicago. Some of these might be connected to architectual firms. Also check out the merchandise mart, as they may emplioy designers there, and in and around that area.

She may end up working in the merchandise mart. So pick a place where she can get to a train. Or there is a small interior design studio "brady wyte" that is in elmhurst and has been around for years. With this economy, she may end up working in custom window treatments place or a furniture store.

Do you know GIZA? If so, perhaps an architectural firm or commercial office furniture company would be worth investigating.

We actually have a house in Aurora close to the Rt 59 station that we have been renting out for the past 2 years. We are just going to move back into it.

Actually one of the things that I have always thought was missing was someone I could pay by the hour or a flat fee to come over and "design our home." Kinda more of a moderate level design on a budget sort of thing.

I know I would be willing to pay a few hundred for that service. For someone with an eye.

Or even do like a package that says "For $1,000 we will decorate your room including painting and minor decorations." And use part of that money to go buy things on a budget from Target, etc to go in the room. Maybe painting it too much here, but just a thought!
