Moving to Northbrook, IL. What should I expect? (Chicago, Glenview: living in, gym)

Hi guys,

I recently got a job and my project is in Northbrook IL, I am currently living in NJ but will be moving to Chicago (Northbrook) next week. I am trying to find a place to live mostly a sharing place. around $400/month.

Can you please suggest some good area to live near Allstate office?
What should I expect when I come there?
How's the night life near Northbrook area?
Any good Gym in that area?
How far is it from Downtown Chicago?
How's the public transportation here?
Is it easily commutable from Northbrook to the ORD Airport?

Please help me settle down there,

I doubt you'll find anything nearby on $400/month, unless you have a lot of roommates. Public transportation to the Allstate complex is weak, but I know Allstate runs a number of vanpools from various areas, as well as a shuttle from the Northbrook Metra station. Northbrook is about 25 miles from Downtown Chicago, with good train service. To O'Hare not bad: The Tollway runs directly in back of Allstate down to O'Hare, about 20 minutes. Nightlife: forget it. There are a few spots along MIlwaukee Av, but that's about it. My mother lived there for 20 yr, it is pretty safe.

I am looking for multiple roommate, sounds like a good area to live in but the real night life must be in DT. If it's not that far then I am fine commuting back and forth.

Glenview is more diverse, NBK is less diverse and heavily Jewish, there are 11 synagogues. If you value diversity, choose Glenview. Most Jewish people choose NBK over Glenview.
