-Most people do not walk around with handguns in holsters. It's still a very rare occurence in the 48 states that allow conceal carry. In fact, it's ridiculous to state that these laws have had any impact at all on anything.

-It's also ridiculous to say that gun control has helped to lower crime.

What is rare? There are hundreds of thousands of permits issued across the country? How do you know? I suspect you have been around carrying people (legal and not legal) many, many times and would have no knowledge as these are just people going about their daily lives.

For what it is worth, research carjacking in New Orleans.
It was at epidemic level. When state made it legal to shoot the bad guy to protect yourself/car in a carjacking situation; the # of carjackings plummeted.
