What amuses me most about place names here is that in one of the flattest areas in the U.S. there are so many with "Hills" or "Heights" in their names. One town near Joliet must have been embarrassed by the trend, and only claimed one: Crest Hill. This is an old thread, true. But still relevant.

How about the "twin cities" some of which are not incorporated, but recognized as place names:
Lake Forest/Forest Lake, Park Forest/Forest Park, River Forest/Forest River.
