Evanston seems to have the best of all worlds---there's something for everyone. It has the college town atmosphere, great, walkable downtown, lake access, and beautiful "North Shore" single family homes with tree-lines streets in NE and NW Evanston.

when you have a major university and thus are a real college town, you are just plain different from other suburbs. a university gives a unique character to a place, a sense of it being its own community.

putting together a great university in the form of Northwestern and a great college town in the form of Evanston is a winning situation.
