Hello, and thanks in advance for looking at my post.

I just recently moved to Wheaton from Florida, so i am not familiar with the area. Our new house has allot of overgrown brush and shrubs that need to be trimmed or removed. Wheaton doesn't have a free brush pickup program, and I am required to put garbage stickers on all "green" garbage. With the amount i have, this will get very expensive.

Is there anywhere locally where i can take the trees to be disposed of, ideally recycled into mulch or the such?

Thanks
Chris

Do you know anyone who lives in Winfield? Free yard waste pick up this week - no stickers, any amount! Years ago if you called the city of Wheaton they would come with their chopper and take your brush and use it for pathways in the Marsh. There was a nominal fee. Not sure if they still do this? Otherwise if you really have a large amount you may have to call a landscaping service and see if they will do a pick up for you.

I'm new to the area, so I dont know anyone in Winfield.

I called Wheaton Town Hall to see if they had any programs like the one mentioned for trails, but the person I spoke with wasnt aware of any.

Any other ideas?

Thanks
Chris

if you have a lot of trimming, brush removal etc. it may be worth hiring a company to do it. that way you could make sure that removal of the debris was in the contract. sometimes having to pay for the disposal is costly. we don't pay separate for yard waste out here in sugar grove. just have to bag or bundle!

Perhaps call DuPage County to see if they can offer any assistance. The only other route is a landscaping service.

The only thing you can do is pay for the expensive stickers. What i do that saves a ton on waste is if you are just trimming bushes and shrubs, throw the pieces into the yard and hit them with the lawn mower with the bag on. it will cut down the bags needed substantially. Just don't do this is you have larger branches.

Purchase a electric chipper. I bought one I've used plenty over the years.
