It is refreshing to have a governor who is not part of the Illinois machine.

However,

1. He shows he has no convictions by backing down on his criticism of Roland Burris to avoid upsetting African American voters.

2. He shows he has no common sense by refusing to rescind the free rides for seniors program on Chicago area transit. He won't even consider making it income based.

3. Now, he is proposing a big income tax hike, as opposed to, say, eliminating patronage jobs and other corruption in state government.

Completely agree! I don't know why the general public is so blase about tax hikes. We'll probably get more dems voted in again for the next election unless we can produce a decent Republican or even Liberatarian.

Agree. Get rid of those patronage jobs. I can't believe that he is thinking of raises corporate taxes. Are they trying to drive jobs out of IL? what is wrong with them?!

The biggest problem are the fat pensions that these state workers get. I love it how I'm responsible for my own retirement thru a 401k that has gone down 50% in value while any gov't worker gets a free ride. It doesn't matter to them if stocks go up or down, they are covered. I think the best solution is to convert them all over to 401k type retirement accounts and get them off the taxpayer teet. Either that, or someone get *me* onto that gravy train...

Gotta love the Democratic mindset... The economy is tanking, hundreds of thousands are out of jobs, people are living paycheck to paycheck, businesses are folding left and right because nobody has any money to buy anything so businesses have no revenue, so whats the solution? RAISE TAXES!!! Makes sense to me. So nice to see that what I fled NY for has come back to haunt me here now with rediculos costs of living-parking-auto insurance, and too many people for too few jobs, rediculos taxes including sales taxes, etc... I just guess I can remind myself that I'm not in NY anymore by looking at the bomb crater filled roads that to top it all off, I now get to PAY to drive on!
