Hello

I'm wondering if anyone can give me their thoughts on Romeoville.

I'm thinking of moving out there either buying a house or a townhome.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Default Would NOT recommend it.

Hello,
I've been checking this forum for some time now and was waiting for someone to mention Romeoville but so far no luck. I was just wondering what other people think about this place, because I am very disappointed. We moved here with my husband five years ago because the houses were more affordable and it seemed like a nice area. While those things are still true, we can't wait to get out of here. The worst thing here is the traffic. Since we live on the west side of town, we have to use Weber/interstate 55 intersection every time we go anywhere and it's a nightmare, especially during rush hours. It was actually rated the most accident-prone intersection in northern Illinois. To get to any major department store, I have to drive a few miles to neighboring cities, because there's none in Romeoville. Now they are building Target and Walmart on Weber Road, but to me it only means more trucks and traffic. We have two little kids and the schools here don't have the best reputation, everybody says Plainfield schools are better. Another thing I'm missing is some nice parks to go with the kids. The last thing is the neighbors. Maybe we just had bad luck, but in our subdivision there's many people that don't really care about their lawns.
So that's what we have to say about Romeoville. Would not recommend it to anyone. A lot of people must share our opinion, because just in our subdivision about half the houses don't belong to the original owners. Hope it helps.

Default romoeville

Thanks for your opinions. Near interstate 55 is where I was considering because of affordable housing, but I'm not very patient with traffic, I would probably shoot myself. Would you say the biggest problem is traffic??? I work in downtown, and would use the metra to get to work, if I did decide to move out there.

Default Yes, traffic IS the biggest problem.

And anyone living along I-55 will probably agree. I mean anyone commuting south past I-355. My husband works in River Forest and says that that part of his commute takes him more than half the time while being only one third of the way. As for taking the train, it's not that great either. The closest station is in Lockport, but that line has very few trains scheduled. The Naperville line has a lot of them, but I heard you have to wait more than a year to get the parking pass and just getting there would take you quite some time. My friend from across the street works downtown and he just takes his car because it takes him about the same time but is just less hassle. Just seems like there's no way to avoid the long commute.
Hope that helps.

No matter what time of day you try to get through the above mentioned area the traffic is absolutely horendous!

What about Woodridge or Lemont? You might have better luck in those areas which are almost directly east of where you're considering.

I've heard the schools in Romeoville are not very good. I was told to avoid applying there when I was looking for a job.

Just moved from there after almost 7 years. It is true traffic is a nightmare. It is worse to live over by Weber Rd- Taylor St. I was in the older section so I could avoid Weber. Schools are not so great either. I saw the area change for the worse within the last few years. It was time to move on.

Westlake, Lakewood all those are in the area that is congested off of Weber. Also Westlake, WesGlen can be expensive also with association fees. Lakewood homes have SSA's so I would watch what you are buying.
