There is a camera on Manheim rd and Cermak. Question-if i turned left on red arrow (while the light going straight just turned green) will I get a violation notice? Or is the camera only catching those who either go straight or turn right on red w/o stopping?

Move on a red no matter what direction, it's a violation.

^ We can turn right on red in most cases and in most places in Illinois. ^

Left on a red left turn arrow will get you a ticket yes. I'm almost positive that if there is a red left turn arrow and that signal is controlled by IDOT (You can find out by looking at the control box on the corner and seeing who's sticker is on it) then I'm sure that there is a sign stating "Left on green arrow" posted on the mast arm, which means left on green arrow only, not red. Sorry.

I believe that the red light cameras are under jurisdiction of the local municipality. These are quasi-administrative and not part of the regular traffic court system.

Not yet sure it that means it is better or worse for technical violations, but it is certainly something to thing about if you decide to contest the violation.

I just got one of those $100 camera tickets for turning right on red at Mannheim & Roosevelt. I looked at the video footage online, & it shows that I paused for about a second (not a full count-to-three second stop) then turned right.

Is it worth it to request a hearing? Are any of these ever dismissed?

You'll get a ticket for the left on red arrow. Bummer, I know. My husband got a ticket for coming to a compete stop and then making a right turn on red - the catch - his full stop was beyond the white line. He said he went beyone the white line so he could see if traffic was coming the other direction. Tried to fight it but had to pay.

Do you remember how long ago that was? I have a friend (who does not live in Westchester) tell me that more municipalities in recent months are starting to throw those things out. I'm just wondering if it's worth my time and trouble to try to fight this at all.

Check the video to see if you should even fight it-RedLightViolations.com. You will need your notice number and plate number to see moving video. If you did not make a stop (vehicle making a rearward rocking -per the IVC) I would just pay it.

His violation was the last week of August, just about a month ago. He got his ticket in the mail within a week of going through the intersection.
