Hi, all

We are thinking about buying our first home in Chicago surburb areas. We have been looking for townhome and single family two months but not really find one at all.

The following are our basic criteria:

1. Price from 400K to 500K. Townhome and Single Family.
2. Year of built: not older than 1970
3. By train not over than 50 mins commute to Downtown Chicago
4. relatively good school district and mid class income group area
5. prefer to have relatively big 3 bedrooms construction with a basement

Anyone can give us some idea which surburbs we should more focus on? Now we keep our eyes on Glenview and Northbrook.

Thanks a lot.

look in the inverness/barrington areas and hawthorn woods and long grove too. VERY nice areas and close to hwy to get to downtown or trains to get downtown using metra.

Default Do you need an agent?

I don't know if you have to stay in the northern suburbs, but if not, Naperville, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Downers Grove, Elmhurst all have excellent highly rated school districts. It sounds like you don't have a broker, but if you do, this is their job to help you decide and give you some guidance. Moderator cut: realtor advertising

Cool Lots Of Ideas

Well Park Ridge seems like a good fit. It borders chicago, and it provides easy access downtown (Metra). You can also take the cta at the cumberland stop. It is in Chicago, but right accross from the Cumberland Green townhomes. Those are nice. There are many new ho,es being built though, tear downs have recently decreased slightly. The city has outstanding schools too, very nic place to live. I lived there for a little while, and really liked it a lot!
