I think you're being short sighted. However, this is still way more thoughtful than any of the posts replying to me when I recently brought up this subject matter on a different thread.

Yes there are differences. However, the Mexican immigrants I talk to are busting their tails doing jobs that many find "beneath them" like busing tables, picking crops and doing labor intensive jobs like landscaping. They want a better life for their kids. Sure there are bad elements who turn to crime, but that's not exclusive to Mexican immigrants either. Maybe it's my corner of the world, but aside from missing unique, irreplacable things about home, I do NOT hear braying about being here and there is a thankfulness for being here. The xenophobic mentality against anyone who is Mexican is stupid, aggravating and short-sighted and of course laced with prejudice.
