Hi there. We are moving to the chicago area in June. My husband will be splitting his time between an office downtown and Hoffman Estates. We are looking for a nice family community somewhere between that he could take the train downtown easily and not have a horrible drive to Hoffman. Any thoughts?

arlington heights...barrington area ...possibly palatine area.

hoffman is not really placed close to a metra. Schaumburg has a metra but I myslef would much prefer dealing with barrington than schaumburg

the traffic between hoffman and barrington is much easier than the traffic between hoffman and schumburg.

barrington is an expensive place to live compared to other communities but well worth it in my opinion.

that link will take you to a system map of the metra stations. you cant really go wrong anywhere north and west of hoffman estates (in my opinion)

i live in hoffman estates and you do have to drive to the train but the area is nice. it all depends on whats convenient, but if you are driving it, 90 runs right through hoffman and so does 53 and you could take that to 290.

I'd recommend Lombard or Glen Ellyn. They are about 20 minutes south of Hoffman Estates, and 30 minutes West of the city.

Also, plan on a frustrating commute to downtown from any suburb.
