They say it is up to the localities to decide if talking on a cell phone while driving is illegal.

What suburb do you live in and is talking on your cell phone while driving illegal ?

Just list your town or suburb and if it is legal or illegal.

Since it varies so much, I just don't use it period while driving. It helps avoid tickets, not to mention it's much safer.

I'm from Libertyville originally. I don't really stick to just one suburb, and I know there are some surrounding suburbs where it is illegal, and some where it's not. I think it's legal in Libertyville. I don't really remember which ones are which, which is great because it encourages me to keep off the phone. Just have to remember that calls can wait until you're done driving.

By the way, I believe it's now illegal throughout the entire state to text while driving. Just a heads up.

You might as well be drunk driving, so I don't talk on my cell phone while driving. I drive.

So you're saying talking on a cell phone is equivalent to drunk driving?

Winnetka - Yes.

Not the equivalent of drunk driving, but still dangerous. 2 suburbanite moms have rear ended me while on their phones, and they couldn't understand why I was livid with them. This made me even more mad.

It's illeagel in Winnetka unless you are using bluetooth. Also illieagel in the city without bluetooth.

It is dangerous. I just read a report stating that one is 4 times more likely to have an accident while talking on a cell phone and 8 times more likely if texting and driving. We should all just drive while we are driving!!

Don't assume everyone has the attention span and multitasking ability of a suburbanite mom.
