I may soon be buying a house in Joliet. I'd like to know about the parking situation at the Metra station there? How fast does it fill up? Are you at a disadvantage if you don't have a monthly parking sticker? (if they even have them). Thanks!

It fills up fast. If you've seen it, it's a very small lot. When I used to live there, I remember times when I left for Chicago fairly early only to find that the lot was full. I don't know what time you plan on getting there, but it might be a pain. The other alternative is walking 2 blocks from the parking garage that charges 50 cents an hour.

I see they've been tearing down the old Cold Storage Warehouse right next to the Metra parking lot downtown (in fact its probably all gone by now). I assume this is to be more parking? That will help.

I'm heading to Joliet tomorrow, so If I see anything of that sort, I'll post here.

It is a shame that the lot is as small as it is. Joliet is a large city and is served by only one metra station. Naperville has two stations and much, much larger lots. I've always wondered why this is. Local economies, I suppose.

Yeah downtown Joliet parking is limited but there is a couple parking garages you should be able to get lucky with.
