The subject says it all. We are looking to buy a home, and we are very interested in the Oak Park area. We need a solid realtor to show us homes and help us move forward on this purchase ASAP.

Looking forward to getting responses.

Thanks,
Alex

Tom Carraher knows Oak Park really well. Also recommend Vanessa Wiley.

I had a pretty good experience some years ago with Gloor Realty. They know the area pretty well. They specialize in Oak Park itself but they'll also show you Forest Park, Berwyn, River Forest, Riverside, La Grange, Westchester and Western Springs.

You should try Redfin.com You select the homes you want to see online and they will send a salaried "field agent" out to show you homes and then rebate 50% of the buyers commission to you. I am currently using redfin to find a new home, couldn't be happier with the service and looking forward to thousands of dollars at closing.

Just be aware that many Redfin agents don't know the market place. Their comps are all computer generated, not from seeing homes. Using a Redfin agent can actually cost you more because of ineffective negotiating, not really knowing the comps first hand. Using an experienced buyer's agent doesn't cost you a thing. I think you would prefer to get a better deal on a home than be rebated a portion of the agent's commission. For example on a 500k home the buyers broker would receive 12,500. The agent would probably receive half of that or 6,250. Using Redfin you get 3,125. Not worth the inexperience in the market place!!
