I have a claim for my attic repairs due to raccoons. The adjuster says I have to get them out first then have an estimate done. Once i send the estimate in, will they cut me a check minus my deductible or will they pay the contractor directly? And will my personal items that were damaged that i had stored up there be covered as well?? the adjuster said he will not be coming out to assess the damages since all raccoons do the same damage.

Ask the insurer. Most will send you a check directly, the assumption you will have to pay the contractor with your own funds, but if you are broke then maybe you have to find a contractor that would accept the promise of a check from the insurance company. Not easy...

thanks, the adjuster said the damages are usually into the thousands. So, I know I wouldnt have the available funds to pay out of pocket up front and wait for reimbursment.
