Dear friends,
me and my friend have taken up jobs in libertyville and would be moving there next week.We are looking for a double bed apartment in and around the place, preferably towards downtown.I currently live in downtown Indy and my knowledge about IL is maps.google.com .we intend to visit few apartments later this week and ideally finalize over the weekend.I would appreciate if anyone can help me with some names & also neighborhoods where we can start with.
are these too much to ask? :
1.a decent fitness center.
2.a closed pool
3.some grocery store, walkable or a couple a mile driveable..
4.an active community.

TIA,
indynewbie.

You are going to be hard pressed to find a place in Libertyville with a pool and a fitness center. Libertyville is made up of $500k and up single family homes. There are some apartments there but But I would look more in town. There are some old looking buildins by Rt 21 & Winchester. for fitness you will have to go to the rex plex which is huge! Stay out of the Waukegan area A lot of Drug & Gang problems. You might be able to rent a townhouse in the next town over in Vernon Hills. VH has the Mall and other major shopping stores. If you go North Grayslake is nice

Thanks for the reply. We visited some places over the weekend...

we went around libertyville, lake bluff,VH,Mundelein,Buffalogrove & finally Wheeling.Though it would be a longer drive to Libertyville, wheeling seemed to have more choices and also towards downtown. We liked woodland creek (close to wheeling & palaintaine rd intersection).

We might be finalizing the place over the week.Any information about the place would be really appreciated. One thing that is unsure is the commute from wheeling to libertyville? What would be an average driving time? Will we have the adv of moving against the traffic?

Thank you
Indynewbie

Nanannie, I agree! Wheeling would not be on my list of places to live. If you have kids you may want to reconsider your decision. Stick with Buffalo Grove if all possible. If I were you I would wait on signing a lease. And look around Northbrook area
Depending on where you are living/working you can expect to travel 30-40 minutes.

Great location, schools and shopping.

I work in Mundelein, and that's right next door to Libertyville so I'm somewhat familiar with the area.

I know there is the Libertyville Sports Complex, which is huge. Not sure if they have a pool there, but you can check their website.

I would also suggest trying Vernon Hills. While you may not necessarily be able to walk to many places, there are TONS of stores & restaurants within a few miles of each other. I've been looking in the same area by using craigslist, which I recommend checking for apts.
