Hi. I just got a job in the NW burbs and we are looking for apartment recommendations in the Arlington Heights or Mt Prospect area. Can anyone suggest one? I don't trust the online ratings as you dont know if they are being rated by employees.

Thanks in advance!

Check out the Colony apartments in southern end of Mount Prospect. They are nice, but nothing fancy. I lived there for two years. You do have to drive everywhere though around there.

Both are nice suburbs. Arlington Heights is bigger, a bit more upscale, a bit more diverse housing stock. But Mount Prospect is nice too. Its downtown is smaller and has a couple not so great complexes around Algonquin and Busse, but other than that you should be ok.

Thanks! We aren't looking for anything fancy. Just something for us to transition to the area.

You will be ok anywhere in Arlington Heights- the farther north the better for airplane noise. Mt. Prospect is better than Wheeling of course. Palatine is good. A/H and Palatine are right on I-90 and 355 for good transportation.

Where are some good places to look for apartments in this area?

I'm so used to finding city apartments via Craigslist and the Reader that I have no idea where to start for suburbs. hah

There is a nice and quite private large apt. biulding on Quentin Rd., just south of Rte 14 (NW Hwy), on east side. Large pond, plenty of parking.
Make sure to check it out, I have friends that live there and are very satisfied. Walking distance from Metra train station.

ANYWHERE in AH? NO. MOst anywhere-YES. I would not rent in the buildings on Dryden between Miner and Kennicott.

Do you mean Kensignton instead of "Kennicott"? What's the skinny on this area? I notice there's a school on that block, as well as a large shopping center.
